About Ravensfield Organic Produce
Ravensfield is a small, diverse farm located 20km west of Perth, On. Our work is an effort to support ecological restoration. Strengthening the vitality of our farm and the food it produces is our contribution to the celebration of and respect for food.
Our one-acre market garden offers a wide range of vibrant vegetables with old-fashioned flavour.
We add composted manure(pig, goat, chicken, horse) from our barn and additional organic matter to build soil in our garden. We also practice low impact cultivation (hand tools!) to support the activity of microorganisms. Improving soil conditions and plant health encourages each crop to reach maximum flavour potential. We consider open-pollinated varieties to be superior to hybrid varieties. In our opinion, they offer the best flavour. Our seed saving practices have protected varieties lost to the commercial seed industry.
In 2017, we expanded our production to include a second property. Land for pasture and cropping will allow us to move closer towards a self-sufficient farm system.
What you'll find
Specializes in older varieties with real old-fashioned flavour, not just sweetness and a wide range of super tasty veggies: salad greens, heritage tomatoes, potatoes, onions, carrots, beets, parsnips, garlic, herbs, fiddleheads, cucumbers, zucchini, snow peas, beans. Greens such as kale, cabbage, swiss chard, Chinese cabbage, bok choy, are also available and much, much more.
